My Most Memorable Experiences

Okavango Delta

Quite possibly the most exhilarating destination for game viewing, walking safaris will make you appreciate what it means to tread cautiously.

Old Jerusalem

No city in the history of the world has been fought over more than Jerusalem. The birthplace of the world's top 3 religions is the living definition of historic and has always been a crossroad of cultures.

Salar de Uyuni

One of the most epic overland 4x4 tours in the world, this 3-day tour takes you to amazing vistas nearly 5,000 meters high, well beyond the amazing Salt Flats themselves.

Great Migration

Each year, nearly 2 million animals make an epic journey across the Mara river from Tanzania into Kenya for greener meals. Predators follow them in great numbers and the sheer amount of wildlife action will astonish.

Bungee Jump

Nothing knocks your human instincts out of its comfort zone more than jumping off a platform 230m up. Humans simply weren't made to fly this way...

Track Silverbacks

There are few moments in life where you will feel time stop when a 500-pound Silverback gorilla false charges you. And the guide's advice if he does? Hold your ground, don't make eye contact and look like you're sorry.

Preikestolen

The hike up to Pulpit Rock will award you with one of the most amazingly beautiful vistas in the world. A sheer drop of 603m over the Lysefjord, have your packed lunch on the natural platform with your feet hanging right off the edge.

Temples of Bagan

Thousands of temples scattered across a massive complex, no two are the same. Some grand statements while others quite small. Tour one of the most extensive temple networks by bicycle for the true experience.

Pizza in Napoli

Pizza is probably the most ubiquitous food that you'll find all over the world. Nothing beats having it from where it was invented. I'm from NYC and had pizza in over 50 countries, believe me.

Sosussvlei

A 30-minute hike up Dune 45 at 5am will be enough to have you huffing and puffing as you walk up a mountain of stairs of sand. But the view of sunrise across the dunes will be.sight you never forget.

DSCF6486.jpg

Iguazu Falls

The most majestic waterfalls in all of the world. The number of falls and the many different levels of falls will astonish. Visit from both Brasilian and Argentine sides and take a speed boat ride directly into the falls.

Hang with Chimps

Making eye contact with our closest relatives in the animal kingdom will make you feel the connection. Spend an entire day in the wild jungle with a troop of around 100 chimpanzees in Uganda.

DSCF2255 2.jpg

Sequoia National Park

You will quickly be amazed once you see just how humungous the largest trees on Earth are. Truly a sight to behold, "General Sherman" will definitely have you leaving feeling small and insignificant.

DSCF1954.jpg

Aurora Borealis

You can witness one of the most amazing natural displays of beauty from many northern arctic cities, but without a doubt this should be on everyone's bucket list. Watching the green glow dance in the air is a true sight to behold.

Temples in Kyoto

Kyoto is one of the most amazing cities to visit and experience just how zen Japan can be. Temple hopping doesn’t get boring quick because each temple has its own very unique characteristics to help it stand out.

A picture of the Grand Canyon is what you should see in the dictionary next to the word "grand." The Grand Canyon completely dwarfs any other canyon in the world. View it, hike down it, boat up it. Just don't miss it.

DSCF2091.jpg

Sushi in Tokyo

When it comes to sushi, fresh is the name of the game. Again, nothing beats the source: Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. They may be moving the market soon, so hurry up and catch it before they do.

Meet the King

Very few encounters, even by safari standards will give you as big a rush as meeting in person the King of the Jungle. His mane and sheer projection of strength will make you happy to be in the safari vehicle.

A truly timeless experience (except for the inflation). I went for the first time in 1999 and again in 2018 and it was nearly exactly as I remembered it, save for the increase in prices and difficultly entering tents of choice.
